A Word for Today Stand up for it! “Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue.” -John 12:42 (NIV) Welcome to the month of November. The rest of your year is the best of your year. Many of the Pharisees believed in Jesus according to our verse today, but they could not stand up for their faith, they were bothered about what men will say about them, the opinion of men mattered to them rather than their faith, the fear of losing their place in the society stopped them from standing up for their faith. Many are caught in the same web today, the opinion of man matters to them than their Faith, they fear that they will loose their place if they stand up for their faith. Jesus said anyone who denies Him before men, will also denied before His Father in Heaven. It’s time to rise up and stand up for our faith in Christ Jesus, our neighbours, colleagues, friends and families ought to know what we stand for, our faith should be manifested and not hidden, we ought to be proud to be Christians, and blow our trumpets about it. Many times, people cover up their faith because they still enjoy living the life of an unbeliever, they want to ‘feel among’, they want to be accepted, they want to be able to join in the dirty jokes and actions around them, it’s time to stop being a coward and stand up for your faith no matter what and know that God honours our faith when we stand up for what we believe in. “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell”. Matthew 10:28 Standing up for our faith is important, we can’t afford to be a chameleon who adapts to whatever situation it finds itself in, God will be proud of us and back us up as a father does His child when we stand up for our faith.
