A Word to the Wise is sufficient. Many years ago as I was at RBTC the Dean of the School at this time (Bo Moffatt) would always say; “A Word to the Wise is sufficient (enough, adequate, necessary).” As I pastored for 20 years, many people would visit the Church and some would even come back and become part of our local body of believers. However over the years many decided for one reason or another The River was not the place they should be at. I understand that, yet, I believe there should have been more who should had stayed. I heard one day a statement that made me feel some comfort about people coming and people leaving. “Just drive the Bus.” People get on and people get off. This for sure gave me a moment of peace that was needed at that time. Nevertheless, I was left with unsatisfied rest. The Lord spoke to me day and; “Don’t use the bus thing as an excuse to improve.” Improve what Lord? He said; “Improve the areas that need improvement.” You see … as a pastor, you understand people come and people go. Yet, many go for the wrong reasons and many go because it’s the right reason. I started to see and understand; “A Word to the Wise is sufficient.” You can’t satisfy everybody, so don’t try. Yet, there is always room for improvement. Leaders do what God is telling you to do, at the same time be open to make adjustments to fulfill the purpose of your calling and the reason you are part of a local body. God sends people to be part of His calling for our lives. If people are coming and most are going, maybe it’s time to check the Bus? Is there proper air in the tires, are the shocks working correctly? Is there enough gas in the tank? Things of importance? Be blessed and remember … A Word to the Wise is sufficient. FIRE! FIRE IN MY BONES!!! APS
