A accident involving three vehicles the corner of Sheridan and 441 - TopicsExpress

A accident involving three vehicles the corner of Sheridan and 441 on Wednesday November 12th, caused Hollywood Professional Firefighters from Fire Stations 31, 45 and 105 to race to the frantic scene at around 9:30am. When they arrived, Fire/Recue crews found two badly mangled vehicles in the roadway laying in a large debris field littered with car parts, ruptured containers and gallons of hydrochloric acid and chlorine spilled throughout the scene. One victim was found to be trapped and unconscious in his vehicle and had to be extricated by Hollywood Fires HazMat Team, while other patents were treated by other units. After a quick extrication, Fire/Rescue crews removed the critical patient from the crushed vehicle and were seen performing CPR as they wheeled him to the Rescue Truck and whisked him off to the nearest trauma hospital immediately. Another patient was transported and the driver of the 3rd vehicle (a tractor-trailer) received no injuries. After completing extrication duties, the scene then became a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) incident as all the chemicals that were spilled on the ground had to be disposed of properly. Once Hollywood Police finalized their investigations hours later, Fire crews were called back to the scene to perform a wash-down of the area and both lanes of travel on Sheridan street were reopened to all traffic. No update on the condition of either patient was immediately available. Anthony J Vera
