A back door cold front, one that come in from the north or northeast instead of the west, is heading toward us. That combined with the sunshine we have out there now will help to fire scattered storms this afternoon. The image in the right is what the HRRR (High Resolution Rapid Refresh) model thinks the radar may look like at 3pm. Scattered storms will be capable of heavy rain, lots of lightning, gusty winds and small hail, but severe wind and large hail are unlikely.
