A bag of diapers cost around 75 dollars. Thats a hefty chunk of change for any family and that takes away from being able to buy food. So what if Nutrition North has resulted in an approximately 25% increase in the average annual volume of healthy food being shipped to northern and remote communities. Families cant afford food, thats why their fridges and cupboards are empty, thats why they are scrounging in the dump for the leftovers. Why is there leftovers in the dump? Is it because no one can afford to buy it? #Shame #FeedOurFamilies #Nunavut #FeedMyFamily #NDP https://itk.ca/sites/default/files/Inuit-and-the-Right-to-Food-Inuit-Tapiriit-Kanatami-Inuit-Circumpolar-Council-Canada.pdf There was a remark made by Leona Aglukkaq saying Aboriginal people “hunt everyday” and that she rejected United Nations Rapporteur as “ill-informed and patronizing academic” What shes somehow missed is that the poverty is so great that people cannot even afford to hunt everyday. Its simple, if you cant afford food, you cannot afford to buy a gun, to buy bullets or to buy a boat or to buy fishing equipment or to buy a boat, or to buy a snowmobile. aptn.ca/news/2012/05/16/food-security-not-an-issue-for-aboriginal-people-because-they-hunt-every-day-says-aglukkaq/
