A beautiful chant by Sufism singer Hamza Shakkur. When I hear a chant like this, it invokes deep feelings in me. I do not perceive it as Muslim per se, just as I dont have to be a Gregorian monk to like their gregorian chants. Instead what fascinates me, is that I see the entire eons of evolutionary history, the formation of galaxies, the infinite size of the Universe, the formation of dust, the eventual cooling and build up of our planet, the entire history of development of Abiogenesis, all the bacteria, animals, plants fungi, all the way up to Hamza Shakkur, this primate ape like creature consisting of 100 trillion cells, and what does it do? It looks to the mountains, to the animals, to the totality it is part of, and it sings. Thats how far evolution has come. It praises the entire creation it is part of, in a moment of ecstasy and peak experience. To make love to the world with your smell, touch, hearing, all your senses. That is the highest moment of creation.
