A beloved brother in Christ just shared this quote from John Piper - TopicsExpress

A beloved brother in Christ just shared this quote from John Piper and it struck me in a way that I dont think was intended. You see, when I read this, it immediately reminded me that this is also true of modernist liberalisms evil twin Skippy, fundamentalism. A lack of knowledge of the ancient languages and cultures can also result just as easily in various types of fundamentalism, since the reader sees himself/herself as the supreme (deeply modernist) diagnostician of the text in question. This may also explain why I no longer walk in lockstep with John Piper like I used to. Im doing my best to not be a fundamentalist of either stripe. weakness in Greek and Hebrew also gives rise to exegetical imprecision and carelessness. And exegetical imprecision is the mother of liberal theology--John Piper,in his book Brothers we are not professionals
