A big Council Meeting for us on Tuesday night... * We made changes to the Sustainable Land Management Rebate Scheme, which provides financial incentives to encourage rural land owners to adopt sustainable land management practices. * A couple of key planning reports were considered: A report that outlined the final stage and next steps of the Whittlesea Heritage Study, and a report on the Housing Diversity Strategy and introduction of new residential zones (which have gone through an extensive a public consultation phase.) * The Multicultural Plan was unanimously adopted - this four year plan outlines 40 actions to continue our strong track record in improving inclusivity and diversity locally. *A community proposal to change part of the suburb of Beveridge to be renamed Wurunbik was not supported following a public consultation process that identified a lack of community support for the name change. * A Notice of Motion was tabled and endorsed that Council write to the federal Attorney General and request the withdrawal of the Draft Exposure Amendment to the Racial Discrimination Act. Oh, and we also put the Proposed Budget for 2014/2015 out for public comment!
