A big congratulations goes out to local boat angler Markus Lewis who won this years Cardiff Bay Yacht Club Cod Comp with this stunning 14lb 2oz cod. Markus was fishing on the Wet Dream and managed to tease this beauty out on that famous last cast, 5 minutes before they had to leave for the last weigh in. Up until 6.15pm the comp looked like it was set to be won by another beautiful cod of 14lb however, Markus managed to pip the scales by 2oz to take first prize. He caught the winning fish on a whole dirty squid which fellow angler Owen had picked up from our Cardiff shop the evening before. Overall, the cod comp went really well for everyone involved and there were loads of fish caught. Andy fished on the Kitti Wake with Allan (Captain), Bob Gilbert, Gavin and Brian Foreacker. Everyone except Brian managed to catch a few nice codling on the famous lug and squid combination, sadly none of which were big enough to weigh in but tasted great in batter. We are looking forward to seeing what next year brings!!
