A big night for SE 82nd Ave and the emerging International District. Thousands attended our kickoff Night Market - with many remarking this may have been one of the first envisioned and led by communities of color. Fantastic support from the community and especially APANO supporters from far and wide. Thanks especially to the 20 volunteers, staff and dozens of vendors and performers who made it a very special night. Estimated 5,000 attended, with many people walking the sidewalks and enjoying kid friendly activities. I spoke to folks from many backgrounds, and felt the blessing if belonging for our immigrant families and small businesses. APANO has worked intentionally and strategically to both advance economic development for this area, while also organizing lasting relationships to address community needs. Thanks to Rep Alissa Keny-Guyer and many other leaders for joining in as well. Grateful!
