A big thank you to everyone who has messaged me over the past while, I haven’t replied to everyone yet simply because I am overwhelmed by the number of messages I’ve received. But I will reply to you all in time. On October 20th I lost more than a father, I lost my best friend. From fishing, working and racing throughout the years I learned so much from him and developed a friendship so close that we never had to speak a word to one another to carry a message, a simple nod of the head and we’d know the craic. Spider was the type of man who sucked as much craic out of life as he could and he showed that approach to life better than anyone I know, even in his last few hours with us he was slagging us and making jokes. He always made sure I was the same and was never unhappy in life. Even if we were fighting he’d be back at me the next day all smiles looking to have a bit of craic. He would always give off about my tattoos and piercings but I learned over the past few weeks that he loved the fact I had them because I was doing what I wanted to do and being myself. He never stopped me from doing much because he knew that’s what I wanted to do and I’m more than thankful for that because I would not be as happy in life as I am today if not for him being so laid back. When I was beside him before he passed I was holding his hand he said to me “Alright RedVans? You know the craic son?“. When I said Yeah, I know the craic the last words he said to me were ”Don’t worry Tommy, you have plenty of good friends around you.”. I can see now who them friends are and I can’t thank you all enough for the support and comfort I had around me and still do. Thank you to Quinn’s Funeral Home, Oriel Active, Toale’s Bar and the musicians who travelled from all over played a few last tunes for him. I could not have asked for a better send off for him, he’d be over the moon with it all. Thanks again to everyone who has been there for me. Don’t have no doubts, seen? Much love Spider, you’re missed.
