A bit about compromise. In politics, especially with as closely-divided a country as ours, compromise is a must. It always seems like its Conservatives/Republicans having to compromise. Thats largely true, because we are traditionalists, while the opposition are anti-tradition. The countrys culture has shifted left over the decades and is continuing to do so. It is inevitable that politics will follow that trend. Its distasteful for conservatives, of course, that these changes are happening, but there isnt really much that can be done, except to go with the flow. An example: What would have happened if liberals had tried to push gay marriage back in the 1950s? The answer to that question is clear: such an attempt would have been mercilessly crushed. But not today, because the culture has moved so much to the left on social issues. As traditionalists, Conservatives and Republicans will inevitably be the ones to compromise. Its not pleasant, but its just a fact.
