A bit about myself: My names Jessica Durling, Im an 18 year old from Nova Scotia, Canada on my second year in university studying journalism. I started doing human rights activism in grade 12 when I got suspended from highschool for being transgender (included a link to a news broadcast of it at the bottom of the status). After news stations started covering it, to save their image the school board made me an exception to the policy but wouldnt take it down, so I kept pushing for it along with some amazing organisations, now policy is re-written to defend trans* students and staff. In December 2013 I received a Human Rights Award from the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission for my work.
