A bit discouraged using barbells at the gym lately. granted ive only been doing them for about 4 days. A big issue seems to be grip strength, as every day my forearms have been as sore as anything else. Either its using too tight of a grip, to heavy a weight or the need to develop that kind of strength. I havent even gotten my biceps that sore so maybe its the lack of stability or lack of a good idea of reps, sets and weight. So what has worked so far? standing rows, bringing the weight straight up extending the elbows out lunges, pretty straight forward. squats kinda? i prefer to do ones with the barbell in front so my elbows touch my knees. gets my heart rate way up so maybe i ought to use a higher weight and less reps? military press, cuz lifting shit above your head is hard. benchpress, although i got a bit wobbly near the end but i could feel it. guess thats it. hoping that this is just a learning curve for the body and using all of these stabilizer muscles. Im assuming that doing any barbell exercise can make other ones easier eventually. last thing about bicep curls. I think i did 4 sets of 10. by the last few i was struggling to keep good form. not sure whats stopping me here. could try drop sets and lower the weight to keep going. or perhaps my form needs to be better. whoa, stuff and stuff.
