A bit far from Greater Fishponds but worth sharing here all the same. For anyone who has never seen a Somerset Carnival please try and attend one this year. Possibly the most amazing thing youll see in the Bristol area. As good as the Balloon Fiesta and as vibrant as the Harbour Festival. One of the worlds largest illuminated winter carnival processions.. lasting approximately two hours of amazing free entertainment to inspire the whole family. This evening on the streets of Bridgewater and for the next two weeks in covering streets in Wells, Burnham on Sea, Weston Super Mare and more.. Once the main event to kick start Bristols winter festivities, it was so successful here it was a casualty of its own success and it was important that it was a Somerset Carnival and not The Bristol Carnival. 66th Scout Group from Fishponds participated in the events for some years when it came to Bristol in the 80s and even won best category.
