A bit of history... Ten years ago thousands of Jews left Gaza in a land for peace agreement that Ariel Sharon facilitated. The Jews that lived there had taken that barren desert and built a flourishing community that supplied a significant percentage of produce in the vast number of greenhouses that the Jews had built there. The community was productive. Various businesses grew. Schools, community centers, synagogues, and homes were built. Jews were forced to leave that once barren land that they had built with their own hands as an effort for peace, while giving Palestinians land to establish their autonomy. Along with Gaza, at the same time, four additional territories were given to the Palestinians . This is a less known fact, as Gaza has been front and center in the media. Immediately upon acquiring Gaza, the Palestinians established a launching site, building tunnels to funnel in missiles and weaponry to attack Israel. The supplies that Israel actually regularly delivered to Gaza for building their community; buildings, structures to develop themselves in a positive way. Instead all was used for warfare by the Palestinians. Israel was not occupying Gaza. Israel gave Gaza to them and tried to help them in positive improvements for their future as an autonomous people. The opportunity was taken and used for terrorism. Without even mentioning here the devastation of the thousands of Jews that were torn from their homes and communities while Ariel Sharon was hoping that giving this land that was so tirelessly worked from a barren desert, so many years ago, that the Jews established as a productive and flourishing community, instead terror and constant missiles were shot into Israel from Gaza. The mission of Hamas, that the Palestinians voted into power in Gaza is not only clear, it is written as their mission statement. To eradicate every Jew. Their biggest weapon is the media as well as their presence on college campuses. After Israel America and all free countries are their agenda to annihilate. We must defend ourselves. Binah Bindell
