A bit unusual visiting Villawood today without my brother Riaz - TopicsExpress

A bit unusual visiting Villawood today without my brother Riaz cruising around. Mostly Tamils came out first - the tray of mangoes and the boxes of chocolates, the cherries, bananas disappeared quickly. Tony had cooked a huge dish of chicken biryani - as Tony is a chef you can imagine how yummy that was - everyone, refugees and visitors got stuck in. There were a few Afghanis, Chinese & Iraqis around as well. Then we saw some Iranians - Kurds, Persians, Arabic Iranians - they are quite sad as they have no news, one is being sent to Nauru after receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained . Very sad the way they separate friends. One visitor told me 300, mostly Iranians, have been released from detention in Darwin and have been given work rights. We met a few new Tamils who we added to our list for inviting out in future. When all the food had been eaten two new visitors , Lynne & Barb, arrived with more so that was convenient. While of course not all cultures celebrate Christmas, they all seem to enjoy the special food & goodies around this festive time.
