A blessed and happy new year to you all! This is the devotion in my Gods Minute. I have shared parts of it before, and it is maybe too long, but it is always a blessing to me: O God of Light, who in Thy omnipotent power drove away the darkness of primeval chaos, be pleased to let the Sun of Righteousness so illumine our dark hearts that we shall go forth to the duties of this day in the joy of faith, the gladness of obedience, and with a clear vision of truth and duty. O God of Liberty, who has bestowed upon us, the children of bondage, that sublime and awful heritage, the freedom of the will, help us to realize the responsibility which it involves. Perfect us in the practice of that self-denial, that choosing of the better portion, until we learn to know from experience as well as revelation that to be Thy bond servant is to enjoy the only perfect freedom which the soul of man can ever know. O God of Love, who has loved us, wretched sinners, with an everlasting love, help us, Thy unprofitable servants, to reflect Thy love more and more, and show our constantly increasing affection by more loyal devotion, more faithful service and more complete obedience. O God of Life, Who hast promised here and hereafter life yet more abundantly to all who truly seek it, help us on this last assured day of all time to strive for that deeper, fuller experience which comes only through Thee. Help us to live this day a nobler, purer, more devoted, more obedient life that ever before, to the glory of Thy name, Thou God of Light, Liberty, Love, and Life. Amen. I promise to try to follow this teaching in the new year, if I am given another year, to do more for others, and less of what makes me comfortable. Happy New Year.
