A book launch event will be held at The Odyssey Bookshop in South Hadley, MA on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2 pm. The author (Caswell) and illustrator (Labrie) will be on hand to read from their new book, HAND ARTISTS, followed by a book-signing and live music. Finger foods will be provided by Chef Todd Simonds. Written by a long-time, passionate advocate for the deaf and illustrated by a late-deafened artist, Hand Artists: Did You See What They Said? is an upbeat children’s story about two young girls, (one deaf, one hearing) who figure out how to overcome their communication differences to become best friends. Jodi Picoult, #1 NY TIMES best-selling author, says, “A great introduction to the world of sign for kids who might be struggling with feeling different from their peers.” With the guidance of Small Batch Books, an indie publishing company located in Amherst, Massachusetts, Hand Artists was self-published with funds raised through the crowd-funding source Kickstarter.
