A book that took me on a journey of compassion, pity, rage, guilt, - TopicsExpress

A book that took me on a journey of compassion, pity, rage, guilt, friendship, love, abuse, kinship, faithfulness and ultimately redemption and reconciliation, all at once. The author invites you, around characters that burst with life, humanity and sometimes ruthlessness, to live through Amirs being. A boy whose mother died giving birth to him. There we witness all the guilt a child experiences seeing in his fathers eyes that he was the cause behind her death with all the psychological & eventually ethical consequences resulting from that unfair assumption. Thats just the first part of a thread that unfolds into a novel bursting with feelings that many times drew tears to my eyes & others soothed those tears with heart-warming meanings. Being an immigrant myself who had also left behind a country tortured with the absurdities of war with all its physical & psychological repercussions, I related to the book & identified with the characters in it to a great extent. However, you dont need to be an immigrant, an orphan or childless to identify with all the humane experiences opened up for one to sympathize with and embrace in this book. Khaled Hosseinis The Kite Runner, a book to be read then held in ones mind & HEART as well.
