A brief glimpse of how effortlessly dolphins swim fast, even when its difficult to hold the pole-mounted GoPro in the choppy water at 8 knots. We approached this large herd (hundreds!) outside Carmel Bay at idle speed, attracting a number of casual bow-riders. Then another segment of the herd charged up alongside us leaping fast. We sped up gradually to match their speed and as we did, more and more dolphins came in from the left and right to gather in front of our bow. This is not even close to their top sprint speed.
