A busy and enjoyable Pune International Literary Festival! #pilf What did I manage to bulldoze my way into? 1. In Conversation with Maneka Gandhi on Animal Rights. Fairly tame in the sense that I had little to do. But her articulation was very strong. I hope a few people were influenced. 2. Management Literature - Sujata Khanna was a nice and sincere anchor handling me, the cynic, and a very wise and respected voice Shubha Vilas Das He came from a position of inspiration, drawing lessons from the Ramayana, while I drew lessons from my own experience, which were often orthogonal. I learned a lot from him. 3. Heat Waves - a discussion of literature based on wildlife and the environment. Moderated a discussion involving Pankaj Sekhsaria and Arifa Tehsim. Their passion for a very important subject was admirable and both spoke extremely well! 4. Crime / Detective Fiction - Everyones interested in crime! A vigorous discussion anchored ably by Piyush Jha, involving Madhulika Liddle, Zac OYeah and me. 5. Harry Potter Workshop - I was the assistant to the Bloomsbury honcho, Anurima Roy. What fun! Tons of kids who know so much about Harry Potter, its almost frightening! I can barely spell Harry. 6. Jaico Books sponsored discussion on Myths and Fantasies with a high-power panel - Ashok Banker, Shubha Vilas Das and Shatrujeet Nath. I tried to moderate but how do you do that when the guys involved are super stars? 7. PUBLISHER, AUTHOR:DECODING A COMPLEX EQUATION - I was the lonely author on stage. Managed to annoy the polite and well-mannered moderator Amrita Verma Chowdhury, Jaicos Big Boss Akash Shah and Bloomsburys Anurima Roy. Powerful questions that govern the largely uneasy equation between the two sides in a turbulent market that no one probably fully understands! 8. Sarcasm-laced humour, I moderated a session involving Arnab Ray (greatbong.net), Milan Vohra and Rishi Piparaiya. Tremendously energetic discussion involing funny people. Tomatoes were actually thrown, probably for the first time ever. Along the way, some great music with my friend Mukund Vasant Padhye in the library, away from the noise! A lot of fun was had by all. Im a bit tired!
