A call for a Mediated Dialogue to find a political Solution to the Haitian Crisis = As of today, if no concrete action is taken to bring the sectors together to find a political compromise; Haiti will face an uncertain future. At the end of the day, this matter will be settled: will it be a Haitian solution or will it be imposed by the international community? Ladies & gentlemen, today you have a golden opportunity to put aside your indifferences and bring all sectors to the table and find a Haitian solution in seeking a political compromise in a win-win approach and fortunately, you have the ability and the capacity to do it among you. You do not have too much time and the window of opportunity is closing by the minutes. The current volatile situation is not going to get any better and it is deteriorating by the minutes and today you have the full control to determine how it will be ended. An unborn child can see the existing mistrust between the Executive and the Parliament, between the Parliament and the Judicial System. When there are problems among all three branches of the government, it will take a miracle to prevent the country from falling into a total chaos. Progress cannot take place in a country that is always in protest and this is Haiti for the past 200 years. We all know Haiti and we all know where these protests will lead to. Today, the question is how to prevent Haiti from falling into a total chaos. The Executive needs to create condition to initiate contact with the Parliament. Now, the international community is getting involved in asking the Executive and the Parliament to restart the negotiation. Some may say that the International Community is getting involved in Haiti internal affair which is truth but there are three words that dictate everything in this world: Qui finance dirige!!! In reading between the lines, the situation in Haiti is even more complicated. Allowing the country to fall into a total chaos will put into question the real role of the International Force in Haiti … At this present moment, it would be ideal to have a respected Haitian mediator helping the protagonists resolving this current crisis at local level. Otherwise, the international community will step in and impose its will. Today, more than ever, Haiti could have used its Diaspora to its advantage. There are score of successful Haitian Nationals in the Diaspora who can help resolving this current crisis like a walk in the park. Based on our professional observation of the situation in the field which is very volatile, it would be better to take the protagonists out of Port-au-Prince and help them initiating the dialogue process in these places such as Fort-Liberté, Pestel, Trou-du-Nord, Mirebalais, Jeremie, Ouanaminthe, La Gonave or a historic place for the Haitian people in the Diaspora such as Chicago a city that was built by a Haitian National, savannah, Georgia a site where Haitian Nationals spilled their blood for the freedom of the United States, or a strong hold Haitian area such as Montreal, Miami, NY, Boston or Atlanta, the city of Andrew Young, Dr. King and the Olympic city and also the land of Compromise. The Religious Leaders in Haiti have a moral obligation and a National Duty to ask the protagonists to use dialogue to find a political compromise. The Civic Leaders shall do the same. At this time, many of you can score points and points but the country is sinking into a total chaos by the minutes and heading at the speed of light toward the “inevitable” qui est un passage obligé. In three days from now, we will be celebrating la Bataille de Vertières! However, do remember that May 18, the Union plays a significant role in the biggest victory of human kind! Our ancestors shocked the world in declaring their independence and making Haiti, ipso facto, the first Black Country in the Caribbean Sea. Brothers and sisters, one day, the sons and the daughters of Toussaint Louverture will resolve their eternal indifferences and get together and exploit the massive underground resource of the country and make Haiti once again the Pearl of the Caribbean. What you are seeing right now will come to a past! Brothers and sisters, the best of Haiti is yet to come! “Physical confrontation is the absence of the effective use of the brain” It is our hope that the Haitian leaders find a peaceful resolution to this current crisis. Happy Vertières Day Joseph Alfred
