A call to action from Alec regarding the PFX movement: Practical FX (PFX) is not a term commonly in use today. Everyone knows CGI and VFX; what we would like to do is put a name on all FX work that actually exists and is created by the artists hands. This would include animatronic creatures, puppets, special prosthetic makeups, miniatures, pyrotechnics, rain, wind, and other onset effects. There has been a trend to exclude these traditional arts from even being considered as visual effects (VFX). We think this is wrong and seek to raise the publics awareness of the value of our traditional approach. Therefore, we suggest the use of the term PFX to describe any of the traditional arts. Lets raise awareness of #PFX and films like HD. Keep #PFX alive!
