A cascading comedy of errors tonight. I got caught in peak hour traffic tonight so was running late to pick Mieke up from home and take her to the maths tutor. So I called ahead and asked her to be ready to go when I pulled up. I also asked her to put the dog out as my son as not yet home and he has a dog phobia. He wont go in the house if the dog is inside. So we either shut the dog in the back of the house or put her outside. As we arrive in Fairfield, I get a text: Cas has arrived home from hanging out with his D&D mates. The dog is in the kitchen. Cas is hungry. Cas is cold. No, Cas does not have any cash to buy a snack at the local shops. No, Cas does not know how to turn on the heater ... No, he cannot take a hot shower because that would involve having to put his clothes back on as it is too early in the evening. His computer is flat and he has lost his recharger and he hates television. And, no, I do not have enough time to drive home, put the dog out then drive back to get Mieke. I resolve the situation by talking Cas through the process of turning on the heater and ordering a pizza delivery. Cas is happy with that solution. Next text: the dog has gotten out of the kitchen and Cas is imprisoned in the bedroom by the dog bouncing at the door. Any minute, I expect a call from the pizza delivery asking why nobody is answering the door ... The maths tutor asks: What kind of dog do you have? A Pomeranian. How old is your son? 16. Oh, thats funny :-D Had to stop on the way home to get petrol as the warning light came on 40km ago and I was not willing to add that to the catalog of things that went wrong. And my phone was about to go flat ... Turns out that the pizza was delivered before the dog busted out of the kitchen. Actually, that is probably why she was desperate to get to him! The smell of pizza probably drove her mad. 3 hours of driving later, all is right in the world again. #mumstaxi
