A cashier in a Liverpool bank, received a small-denomination note - TopicsExpress

A cashier in a Liverpool bank, received a small-denomination note and held it up to the light to see if it was authentic, which it was, but in doing so he saw some brownish markings on it that looked suspiciously like handwriting. With a magnifying glass, he was able to make out the following message. If this note should fall into the hands of John Dean, he will learn thereby that his brother is languishing in prison in Algiers. When they were finally able to find that John Dean, he immediately set about to raise money to secure the release of his brother. After the unfortunate man was released, he told how hed been in prison for 11 years. He had cut his hand with a sharp instrument, then using a sharpened piece of wood as a pen, he had written the note dipping the wood in his own blood, in hopes that someone, someday, would notice and contact his brother. That poor man was unable to redeem himself in a physical sense, and we, in a spiritual sense, cannot ransom ourselves from the prison of sin.( Ps. 49:7, 8) states truly no man can ransom himself, or give to God the price of his life, for the ransom of his life is costly, and can never suffice. We must look to our Elder Brother whose blood alone was shed for all peoples, every tongue, tribe, nation. No soul is ever finally deserted of God, given up to his own ways, so long as there is any hope of his salvation. Man turns from God, not God from him.
