A child has died after being struck by a 4WD while riding his bike near Quakers Hill earlier tonight. Police have been told an eight-year-old boy was riding his bike when he and a 4WD collided at the intersection of Paddock Street and Capertree Street, The Ponds, about 5.45pm (Monday 13 October 2014). The child sustained critical injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He died a short time later. The driver is assisting police with their investigation. Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Quakers Hill Police.
