A class IX student at a local madrasah, was raped by her neighbour Ajharuddin Sheikh (24) some four and a half months ago when she was alone at home. The victim’s father further said the accused had warned his daughter against disclosing the matter to anyone to avoid dire consequences. “When my daughter fell sick, we took her to a doctor and came to know she was pregnant. It was then she disclosed the torture she had to endure. We lodged a police complaint on May 5 as Ajharuddin’s family denied the charge and drove us away when we sought justice from them. But the police too appear disinterested to investigate the matter,” said the victim’s father.
