A client did his taxes here. We asked for his mortgage interest info, and he said, Oh, they looked at that at H&R block. I couldnt even take it. Knowing that mortgage interest is pretty significant, and verifying that his house wasnt nearly paid off, we pushed him for his mortgage interest. Aside from making his current tax refund bigger, we also amended his prior year return and got him a refund of over $1,000! That, folks, is why we do what we do.
