A coincidence - in one of the classes I taught the last week, I said this to the participants and I repeated the words twice (just to provoke a discussion). When children pay attention, they learn. They pay attention when they move. The use of anchor tasks in mathematics lessons where students work on a single task with their friends, often with concrete materials, and talking is designed to let students move during the lesson - not running around the room but moving. Children need to move because sitting still is not natural (so is not talking when they are learning maths.) A quiet maths lesson is suspicious. I always say.
