A cold westerly breeze will keep the chance for lake effect - TopicsExpress

A cold westerly breeze will keep the chance for lake effect flurries and light snow showers around tonight into early Wednesday with a dusting up to 1/2 for most areas. Slightly higher amounts are possible over western Steuben County where localized 1-2 amounts cant be ruled out. Overnight temperatures will drop into the mid teens. Scattered snow showers early Wednesday will give way to partly sunny skies as the lake effect snow showers lift north of the region. Temperatures will remain on the chilly side with the 5 Degree Guarantee 26. As we ring in 2015 Wednesday night, expect clear to partly cloudy skies with temperatures at midnight in the mid teens. Overnight temperatures will bottom out in the lower teens. A mix of sun and clouds can be expected New Years Day with highs in the upper 20s. A weak system passing by to our north on Friday will push more clouds our way and bring with it the chance for flurries. The weekend will start out with dry conditions, but clouds will once again be on the increase Saturday with late day mixed rain and snow showers possible. The wintry mix should hold accumulations down, but some icing is possible. With the storm system expected to lift to our west, milder temperatures will get drawn into the storm, changing the mix over to a period of rain by Sunday morning. As colder temperatures wrap in behind the storm, the precipitation will taper off Sunday afternoon as snow showers. Much colder temperatures will follow with highs early next week only in the lower 20s.
