A colleague from my previous employer had asked me to help with buying of a laptop; basically , he wanted me to recommend specs, where to buy it, etc. At the time I contacted a few of the places I used to buy IT equipments from , but they were not too forthcoming with prices and invoices. Unfortunately , I was also involved with various activities that took most of my time. Long story short, I called him back just once to say that I was working on it and never got back to him. Once my busy period was over , I started feeling terrible everytime I thought about how I have treated him. The fact is, this colleague has made it a point to have breakfast with me as often as possible so that we could talk etc , since I no longer worked with him. Today , I finally mustered the courage to send a text to apologize for my actions. To my surprise, he called back and said he also wanted to apoligize for not keeping his word regarding our breakfast schedule. I was relieved and happy that a simple text had fixed a friendship that was on the rocks. Today, I have learned that pride is destructive. I have also learned that people are better than what we think of them, that no matter the situation , it is always best to live in peace and harmony with all. #livingandlearning#
