A comment I posted on a friends status as he was saying we need to decide if we want to be a capitalist or a socialist country. He stated that socialism leads to a form of slavery. This is my comment on my ideas on where to start mending our nation. This is merely my opinion and you are welcome to your own. Please dont try to change mine and I will respect yours. Thank you. Its already been going on for years. We are slaves to our government as long as they are allowed to tax us to the limit and pass regressive laws that take away our freedoms. Also, you are a slave to your employer as long as you draw a check from them. Even owning your own business you are a slave to city, county, state, and federal governments by way of permits, laws, and taxes. I believe every law and every tax should be reviewed by a panel of a mixture of business owners, doctors, bankers, lawyers, elected official, and then a number equal to the sum of the previously mentioned of regular working people, mothers, fathers, and a smattering of teachers, police, sheriffs, nurses, and other local professions, etc. Sunset every law and every tax and law on the books. That is, review each tax and law and let the panel decide which are essential, regressive, obsolete, detrimental, or redundant. That would be a good start on fixing what is broken. The next order of business would be term limits on all elected officials on all levels of government, from the head of the local Parks Department to the President of the United States. Finally, ALL campaigns for office should have equal funding for each candidate who qualifies to run for any office. Force each to be elected upon views, beliefs, agendas, and anticipated policies. Along with that we should outlaw lobbying. Make it a felony to solicit any office holder on any level. Let those that are elected decide for them selves what they believe is best for their constituents, municipalities, counties, states, and the union of states. Like I said earlier, this would be a good starting point, but ALL of this needs to be done in conjunction with each other or there will be too many loop holes for deviousness to flourish.
