A comment to my post ran thus (oh, and my reply followed underneath) but dont forget to join the debate. Akachi Odoemene Let me ask you guys: If I decide to strap myself with bombs and then go and blow up a market square in Imo state, who should be blamed for such act of violence? The president of the country? Such thinking is the height of foolishness. Let them keep killing their people and other innocent souls and want the president to accept responsibility and/or resign. This violent twist - whether Boko Haram or other forms of extremism - is a stupid northern problem; it is not happening in the East, nor in the West - only in the North. It is inherently Islamic and also has everything to do with the kind of their communities Almajiri sociology which keeps a vast majority of its peoples in abject destitution, as well as blinds and totally brain-washes them. This has gone on for decades and has been the breeding ground for the foot soldiers of such fundamentalism that the country witnesses today. The Northern elites - all of them, military and civilians alike - created this ugly problem and should stop blaming ANYBODY for it. They must find a way to fix it or it will soon consume them all and their families who, unfortunately, have been inexplicably excluded from such Almajiri sociology. What a shame! I laugh at those who ascribe such extreme violence to misgovernance and corruption of the Jonathan administration, or to poverty in the land. It may well be so, but it is the misgovernance and corruption of the Northern elite, which has kept the vast majority in perpetual poverty, that is responsible for it. Not any other. Jonathans administration is corrupt, yes; but must it take the blame for each and every stupid act that occurs in the country? Even when we know the actual problem? People, THINK! Moore Numental You are too far gone off tangent to merit a short reply and Im pressed for time to give this my response the length it deserves. But some quick questions: 1. Is Jonathan the president of Nigeria minus the North? 2. Does the constitution he swore to defend which places the welfare and security of Nigeria as a whole his first priority preclude the North? 3. Is the defense budget for the nations security without provision for the North? 4. Did he not get votes from the North to give him enough cumulative votes to win the election? 5. Are the innocent dead, maimed and injured from the atrocity of the extremists not Nigerians? 6. Is he no longer the Commander in Chief of the armed forces of Nigeria? If he isnt, we should expect his resignation letter before close of work tomorrow. 7. Your position is so misplaced that not even in their wildest inebriations will Jonathans coterie of mouthpieces utter such insanity as youve endeavoured to pronounce above because they will ultimately be doing their oga at the top a grave disservice. 8. And yes, as the CEO of the country, he takes the fame for every good thing that happens in the country like the containment of Ebola and the shame for every thing bad like the cold-blooded killing of each innocent child. 9. Obviously, the northern elites share the blame but their share does not absolve the Presidents who has shown ridiculous cluelessness but keeps repeating the hare brained promise of bringing such brutalities to an end. 10. Its people like you that make him confident that no matter who dies, hell have a field day the next day partying on their blood to the eternal disappointment and grief of the bereaved. Let me end by asking - who do you think the terrorists will come for when they have taken the entire north? When they have recruited stronger men and women? When they have amassed more resources from the wealth of the North and gained sympathisers from those we failed to protect today because we think its a mainly Northern issue? When they have been emboldened by blood and gore? When they have put the mighty military of the Giant of Africa to shame? You think youd be safe in your enclave typing gutter inanities on Facebook? You think theyd finally stop? You obviously dont know the half. You havent the foggiest idea of what the bigger picture is and are content with such myopic idiocy. This shortsightedness makes us all foolish and is exactly what these terrorists want. Please, take your own advice. Before you come up to my wall and debate these issues, read up, digest what you have read and do yourself a favour: THINK!
