A comment today about the future of industrial agriculture in the US = I believe the combined problems of industrial agriculture are going to bring it down; the trouble is systemic. Resiliency, what remains, is in both the independent producers and the natural resources they control, and how they care for them on the bio-regional level. We are the fall back. All the big government rational ignores the basic principles of ecology along with the real psychology (sociology) of farms as they have evolved within their collaborative communities from the start, at least in the healthier regions of the country where I grew up = Wisconsin and Minnesota. To me, both moral integrity and the democracy I believe in where internal to these people (relatives) and their well managed, traditional farm landscapes. Ive traveled Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and Ive never found anything as strong as what I grew up with in the last days of real conservation and community agriculture before industrialization.
