A common complaint among newly diagnosed sleep apnea patients is "swallowing air,” which causes them to burp. Many patients find this issue will resolve after they adjust to using PAP therapy. If Cpap/Bipap patients continue to experience "swallowing air" then we suggest changing your sleeping position and/or elevating your head with two pillows to help decrease burping or passing gas. Changing nasal masks may also help to decrease swallowing air.
