A concept for an art project that developed into paintings and photography as well as videos by Alkistis-Irene Wechsler, part of soundtrack by Jean-Philippe Delalandre and dance by Katherina Czernin. Also in association with musical composers and performers such as Philippe Claudel and Thomas Truax, of which some pre-existing musical works could harmonise with some of the videos in this project. It has also consciously chosen relations to Greek mythology, tales by Lewis Caroll, thoughts by the philosophers Derrida and Foucault and the poetry and some images of movement by Henri Micheaux. It developed on a canvas of ideas and text-stories in creative and inspiring exchange between Jean-Philippe Delalandre and Alkistis-Irene Wechsler. It is a European collaboration. Alkistis and Katherina are Austrians/Vienna. Jean-Philippe is French/Paris. Philippe C. is French lives in Brussels. Thomas Truax English/London. And then English and French for contemporary philosophy and poetry as well as Greek and English for the myths. And we all travelled and lived in various countries in our continent as well in the USA. Tales of El Dodo, from the childhood gardens to Pissouar, new garden of delights and to Precipice-no prejudice can be shown and performed in its entire extension given the offered time of performance and exhibition space. Particularly for the Autumn Art Festival Vienna, in the IG Artists Vienna gallery we propose: a) Projection of youtube videos, as in the choice given in a second word document, videos which are running through the entire story. b) Exhibition of paintings completed in the summer 2014 under the general definition of Precipice-no prejudice, which is also the conclusive theme of the project. c) Circa 20 min dance by Katherina Czernin in 2 parts. First a dance presenting the movement from informality to search of dynamic new lines. Secondly, expressive dance movements in a dialogue and confrontation with the paintings and videos. Moving from and in some Greek Myths, having Artemis as feminine archetype of independence, self-confidence and higher justice (as also shown in the film ‘La belle et la bete’ by Jean Cocteau) and keeping in mind what men are able for, by reading the behaviour of Zeus, Apollo and Heracles. Apollo, being of ambivalent gender, together with Achille, quite sure of only homo-erotic orientation, they are opening other horizons to the conception of male-female polarity. * Foucault came into my conscious choices and patterns of behaviour quite recently. (and yet, from my father’s choices and those of his close friends, as well as my university-time chosen friends and teachers, I found myself conform to the message of Foucault, being anti-conformist and rebellious to any models, forms and paths described as those we have to obey and to follow … * With all that, it does not go away the moral of ‘must work or feel terribly guilty’, which even under the liberation induced by the message of Foucault and the erotic experience where all senses are involved and mainly the skin-touch enters majestic and full of joy, from a certain teen-age on, in various degrees … and though on senses that is not a sin, is not a crime, is not a destructive factor of existence, safety and future perspectives … Yes, it’s not enough … not exclusive, not fulfilling. And so work, is not a ‘must’ not slavery but if involved with pleasure in inventiveness and creativity, then the co-existence expresses harmony … In my case, that is mainly creating visual art, such as paintings and videos, even if I went also through architectural projects that mostly have been the mean to material survival, but often were also creative pleasures and I am grateful that they left a lot of time –space between for the painted personal myths. Philosophy, psychology, theory and technics, in my art work are mirrors that reflect the images to paint but also to go through (the mirrors) to other universe and break out again, to the opposite of what seen and experienced … * Geography of sensations – 3 stages of ME – London at the centre Before London, behind the mirror, the body experience, to be masked (then in London) in the Tales of the old Oxford birds, absorbed and rejected by Alice in the English gardens of Artemis as from the age of enlightenment After London, to picture some of it in a series of songs on canvas, through the meeting with the French El Dodo (Jean-Philippe Delalandre) dancing at the strands of Paris … and on the top of the Vulcan … * Derrida – deconstruction -> Precipice (deconstruction of forms, dissolution of pre-constructed models of life) It is a not a must to live on; not a need to keep the form; what for keeping it formal? Break through, scratch the wall-paper, find the split in the wall, break the nails, and drop it all … Precipice … not the innocent Kore, looking for a strange flower, to embroider her tapestry … And yet, not even Persephone, the queen of Hades … But again Alice, through the black hole of the white rabbit … Deconstruction: Freshness in fragments; air to breath; silence to hear; darkness to see through … A neutral child surprised, shocked, wondering, collecting and dropping, stepping out … * New images Composition with the stylish gay, the ecstatic gay … on the outside wall the picture of a short, hard scream, heard behind the wall inside hotel paradox … ‘Il fit froid pour tous’ poem by Henri Micheaux, music by and voice of Philippe Claudel, drums vibrating with Marc Van Malleghem. Girl to boy, boy to girl; Summer with winter; Blowing the wind; starting the fire; ghosts dancing; smiles flying; Marais, bute des Cailes; Paris this summer; memories exploding. * Malheur: poem, song, artists, as of the il fit froid … Photos, associate with a past, not lived on my own body … threats to others, not quite so lived in my own heart … fears from a past not lived, called to life by the forth and backwards of the trains on the same old ground of Vienna, with the living dream of Paris … now as then … L’air du toujours … inspired by the atmosphere of the VOLCAN , by Klaus Mann, in French translation, recent reading in my studio in Vienna 6e Arrondissement … Neighbourhood full of references, both of Jwish victims of Nazi, but also of Art Nouveau details, associative to their contemporary start of Freudian psychoanalysis … unlocking the straightness of visual forms and liberating the soul from the straight jacket of social endeavours … * Back to the observing child in Paris and Vienna … decisively (therefore) not neutral but deconstructive and deconstructed … The pieces of the puzzle in the air, out of the gravitation field … now all embracing, all embody, all investing it … A universe, not an island … An artist’s ultimate sacrifice … Black Swan of the immortalised film (outgrown from its ballet archetype …) * Butterfly, song created by Thomas Truax … in the little videos, it gave the path for the dance by Katherina Czernin … her dance that was already there a year ago … * Particular Relations to Derrida apart of the general spirit in this project, initially to this project and throughout the 2 first parts, as inspiration to paintings and soundtrack to videos of those pats, given by noises etc deconstructions made by Jean-Philippe Delalandre upon pre-existing songs of other artists. Particular Relations to Foucault apart of the general spirit in this project, are in those of the 3rd part, precipice (and no prejudice), hints of breaking out of state of limitations, out of limitations of state of mind, out of the limitations imposed by prejudice and accepting the joy of life of others, in their other ways, in a dance of brotherly love, in being what each want to be, with whom want to be, dreaming and living the dream …
