A concerned senior citizen of Mungwi district has appealed to President Michael Sata to resolve the impasse surrounding the recognition of the appointment of Henry Kanyanta Sosala by the Bemba Royal Establishment as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu. Philip Katenda, 81, is displeased with the differences between government and the Bashilubemba over the appointment of Henry Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu. Mr Katenda says it is unacceptable for any individual regardless of their status to dispute the decision of the Bemba Royal Establishment in succession issues. Mr. Katenda has since threatened to take to court those perceived to be interfering with the succession process. Chief and Tradition Affairs Minister Professor Nkandu Luo recently stated that it is not automatic for government to gazette any appointed Chief. She was reacting to concerns over government’s failure to gazette Henry Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
