A contractor came over to do some work on my apartment. He went, immediately, to Mio and started petting him. What a beautiful Shih Tzu, he said. Please dont touch my dog, I said. Hes unpredictable. I go back to my orisha room and try to work while he beats and bangs. He gets quiet and then I hear, Good doggie. Hes bothering Mio again. Again I tell him, Please dont bother my dog. He will bite you. A third time hes working, and then I hear him again, Good doggie. Youre not mean, are you? Now I have a feeling and I turn on the voice recorder on my phone while I tell him, Ive told you twice before. This is the last time I will tell you. Do not touch my dog. Do you feel free to touch another persons possessions in their house when you work in it? I wont tell you a fourth time to not bother my dog. Leave him alone before he bites you. Youre an asshole if you think you can walk in someones house and just handle their possessions, my dog included. He will bite you. The worker goes on about being a natural born dog whisperer. I warn him again and tell him if he cant leave my dog alone, he will have to leave. Again, Im working and I hear him saying, Youre such a good dog. Your master just doesnt understand. Then I hear a growl, a bark, and a human scream. Mio bit clean through his hand. And now Im on my way to the leasing office to play the recording and let them know . . . he was warned repeatedly. Why do people mess with a dog after theyve been warned NOT to mess with a dog? People are really stupid.
