A conundrum: Yesterday, an older couple took a little minpin to our vet and asked to have her euthanized. They said she is 13 and she bites and since the husband is ill, they dont have time to deal with her. The vet didnt feel the dog was actually that old and the vet techs were petting her, so she isnt all that bitey, either. The vet tried to talk them out of it and then asked for a few hours to find someone to take the dog. They found me. When the people returned, they had not changed their mind on euth, so the dog came to me and went home with a great foster. This morning, the woman wants the dog back. Shes sorry and made a mistake. The dog would have been dead and right now she would be sorry for that, instead. I have no plans to give back the dog. Anyone want to convince me otherwise? I have to call very soon and be the bad guy - but its better than the dog being in the way again next week, when there is no one there to step in. Counsel? Anyone?
