A conversation I had with one of my attentive Bible students - TopicsExpress

A conversation I had with one of my attentive Bible students during todays field service... ME: While I was rounding up todays Bible discussion, you said you would like to ask a question. HIM: Yes, you are right. ME: So, whats your question? HIM: Will the earth be destroyed one day? ME: Hmmm, why do you ask this question? HIM: Ive heard a lot of people talk about the destruction of the earth. Some even say when that time comes, all the righteous ones will be taken to heaven and the earth will be destroyed. ME: Okay. Thats a very good question. Whats your take on your question? Any opinion? HIM: Well, I really dont have. Thats why I asked. ME: Alright. Lets consider what the Bible says. I guess my Bible is still with you? HIM: Yes, it is. ME: Okay. Open to the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 1 verse 4. HIM: Ive done that. ME: Can you assist in reading? HIM: Why not? It reads thus: A generation is going, and a generation is coming, But the eath remains forever. ME: Thanks for reading sir. I appreciate the way you read that Bible verse. How do you understand the Bible verse youve just read? HIM (nodding in agreement): Well, it says here that the earth will remain forever. Thats a point I noted while reading. ME: Great! So, how many years are there in forever? HIM (after deep thinking, followed by a brief smile): Uncountable. ME: Good. In others words, the earth remains till eternity. Or better still, everlasting. Am I right? HIM: Yes, you are. So, since the earth remains forever, it canNOT be destroyed. ME: Yes, you are correct. Lets consider another Bible verse. Open the Bible a bit forward to the book of Isaiah chapter 45 verse 18. HIM (having opened the Bible): Okay. Shal I read? ME: Yes, please. HIM: It goes thus: For this is what Jehovah says, The Creator of the heavens, the true God, The One who formed the earth, its Maker who firmly established it, Who did not create it simply for nothing, but formed it to be inhabited: I am Jehovah, and there is no one else. ME: Another excellent reading. Whats your opinion on the verse youve just read. HIM: Well, this is another valid proof. The Bible clearly states that Jehovah God created the earth for it to be inhabited. I guess thats Gods purpose for the earth. ME: Brilliant! I must say Im impressed by your reasonable reasoning. HIM (gives a one-sided cheeky smile): Thanks. ME: As you rightly said, the Bible verse showed Gods purpose for this earth. May I ask you a question sir? HIM: Of course. ME: After putting in efforts and finance into the house you stay in presently, if the Landlord decided to bring the house down to dust, what would you say about him? HIM (after a seemingly everlasting laughter): That would be a sign of madness. ME: Of course, it is. If we humans would not destroy the things we created ourselves, how much more Jehovah God? Would he ever destroy the earth he built himself? Remember what the Bible says about Gods works: After that God saw EVERYTHING he had made, and look! It was very GOOD. HIM: My brother, your Biblically supported points are very reasonable. Im glad the Bible has the answers to my question. Thanks for your explanation. ME: Thank you sir for accepting what the Bible says. Weve spoken to many people out there on this subject. But, they didnt accept. Im glad to speak to a reasonable person like you. Thanks for your time. I look forward to discussing with you next week. HIM: Certainly sir. I will be around. Shall we end with prayer as usual? ME: Of course. Lets give thanks to Jehovah. Me (after praying): Goodbye sir. Enjoy your evening. HIM: Bye sir. ¤Ade Bob¤
