A conversation from todays market. A customer chooses products. Total = $33.50. Hands me $50.00. Smiles and asks if Ill drop the $3.50 and make it an even $30.00. I politely say no. Im told my staff do it. Hmmmm. I expounded on my no by briefly addressing the margins in a business like ours. I wanted to share the conversation here for a few of reasons. Firstly, this is a really unusual exchange. It almost never happen. Secondly, i makes me wonder if the same person would make the same request at a large supermarket. Thirdly and most importantly its an opportunity to say a big fat thank you every one of you who chooses our products. Handmaking anything, including confectionery, is a very expensive manufacturing exercise. We are so grateful for every dollar you spend at SWEETNESS and never, ever take your support for granted. Post script: the customer bought these products at a cost of $33.50.
