A copy of the Petition letter to be sent to the Senator: Senator Cruz, We, the undersigned, petition you to sponsor a bill to amend the issuance practices of the A.M.B.E.R. Alert system. It is our intention to establish a public notification system for missing children when the circumstances of their disappearance do not meet the criteria for the issuance of an A.M.B.E.R. Alert system. In order to protect our children, we propose the following guidelines: S- Summon: Law enforcement must be notified immediately upon noticing the absence of the child. I- Injury/Danger: To be used in circumstances where there is reason to believe a risk for injury and/or loss of life is likely. D- Description of child and/or abductor. * We call for a redefinition of abductor to include any person who removes a child from a known location without obtaining express consent from parent or guardian. No longer will babysitters have implied consent due to being entrusted with a child. A- Age. This will apply to anyone considered a minor by the State of residence or the state from which the child was abducted and any surrounding states into which the child may be taken; Usually 18 years of age or younger. We do this in memory of Sida Osman whose disappearance did not meet the criteria for an A.M.B.E.R. Alert, but whose prolonged absence was a concern given his age and vulnerability.
