A couple of additional comments from my interview with Joe Citro, - TopicsExpress

A couple of additional comments from my interview with Joe Citro, not in the final article: Joe - I have five novels each based on actual Vermont history and lore. After a while I stopped writing novels and just recorded local stories: ghosts, monsters, treasure stories, vampires, UFOs... anything weird. Vermont has a million strange stories! Odd as it may seem, far as I know, I was the first writer ever to try collecting them in books. In fact, I have saved some from going extinct... I am becoming more interested in other kinds of strange phenomena. For example, the Bigfoot sightings down around Bennington not long ago. Or the flying monster dubbed The Awful that was allegedly spotted up around Richford. Locally, there is an intriguing case that took place around Chittenden. Not the Eddy Brothers this time, but rather a mysterious metal door that was discovered by some amateur geologists. It was embedded in the side of a cliff and was rusted open about nine inches. Just enough to squeeze through. Inside, they saw stairs carved into the cliffside, stairs leading down into utter darkness. They didnt dare proceed. The plan was to return with lights and proper equipment, but when they came back -- you guessed it -- they couldnt find the door! I love stories of elusive tunnels and doors. Did you know downtown Rutland is supposed to be riddled with underground passageways? Who knows what might be lurking down there? Thanks to Mr. Citro who was very gracious with his time. - George Nostrand
