It was very good ... music interwoven with speeches, letters, essays from politicians, poets, slaves, etc ... of the time. This clip is Old Folks At Home ... a famous folk and traditional song with lyrics by Stephen Foster ... the lyrics are widely criticized for romanticizing slavery. As the evening went on I gained a new appreciation for the role music played in society and culture ... for both the North and South ... in communication, storytelling, and in shaping and sharing a common set of beliefs and values.
