A couple of months ago someone special came into my life and I named him Charles James McNulty. Every night as the sun went down he would make his appearance, weaving a web that was masterful and enchanting with such detail that Arachne herself would be in awe. Every morning as the sun would rise, Charles would take down his shimmering web and retreat to his hidden home. As you can image my first encounter with Charles was startling and dare I say frightening! He is the size of a Ping Pong ball!! But the web he created was so intriguing I couldn’t bring my self to do what my instincts were screaming. The appearing and disappearing was as magical as Houdini. I had to know his trick, so with the help of my dear friends Luke Cheney, Andrew Kang and Anthony Evans we set up a camera. Not only did I learn how Charles would build and dismantle his web but also that some neighborhood cats like to convene on my roof. As the weeks progressed Charles and I got used to each other. In the beginning we would both freeze as I came home. But there came a time when I would greet him with a hello and he would weave away, almost showing off, as he created that evenings webbed masterpiece. A week ago I noticed Charles webs weren’t what they use to be, the detail wasn’t quite as skillful. Then, to my surprise, for two nights in a row he did not take down his web!! You can imagine my concern. Today, with a heavy heart, I’m here to report that Charles is no longer weaving his magical web. My mom believes he was my animal spirit and now that my own recent web of emotions has passed he has moved on. I like to think he’s gone to another house to inspire someone else with his hard work and dedication. Charles James, please know you are a part of the McNulty family and you will be missed. Keeping spinning that wonderful web, where ever you are! This video is for you!
