A couple of reviews, by local residents, of Peter Pan, this years - TopicsExpress

A couple of reviews, by local residents, of Peter Pan, this years pantomime at The Orchard Theatre: Kelly Goldsworthy: Every year, when the Orchard start advertising the pantomime Im reminded of seeing the late Norman Wisdom as Buttons, in my first pantomime visit, at some point in the late 1980s. Since then the Orchard has built a reputation for providing great quality pantomimes, with people travelling from throughout the South East to enjoy the show put on at Dartfords local theatre. This year, following his run in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs two years ago, Craig Revel Horwood returns to the Orchard Theatre to play Captain Hook in Peter Pan. Revel Horwoods Hook is far removed from that of JM Barries novel or the Disney movie. He is a sarcastic, rather than scary villain. As you would expect there are various references to BBC Strictly Come Dancing, with the dance routines providing a particular highlight. Songs such as One Way or Another and Happy had the audience, particularly the younger ones, dancing along. Paul Burling - Comedy Impressionist, playing Smee, provides a great deal of the heart of the show. His interaction with the audience is one of the highlights of the pantomime. The supporting cast, in particular Andy Owens as Peter Pan are strong. The traditional elements of pantomime are intact with (foam) bricks making a special appearance. The children I saw all seemed to be having a wonderful time. Peter Pan runs until 3rd January 2015. A limited number of tickets are still available now. Emma Gappa & Megan (aged 10): Myself and my 10 year old daughter went to see Peter Pan at The Orchards in Dartford last night and thoroughly enjoyed the pantomime. It was amazing and truly magical. We both agreed it was the best pantomime we had ever seen. The staging was perfect, as was the lighting and audience participation, everyone was thoroughly engaged and enjoying themselves . The choreography was amazing, everyone was so in time and I thought there were imaginative dance routines incorporated into the show. Peter Pans cast were outstanding, incredible voices and all very talented with powerful voices, especially Wendy and Tiger Lily.It was so good i actually felt i wasnt in a local theatre. I actually felt like I was in the West End. Throughout I thought the show was very funny and witty and we both laughed lots and lots. It was the sort of humour that would appeal to all ages. Craig Revel Horwood Official was perfect for the role as Captain Hook. It was like the role was made for him. I would like to thank the in-house staff who looked after me and my daughter so well, They were very friendly and helpful. The whole cast were lovely at the meet and greet after the show. They all took time to chat to the audience, have pictures taken and sign autographs which really finished off my daughters evening with a smile as they chatted to her.
