A couple of summers went by, but Rappers Delight stayed with me. They played it on the radio often enough that I was able to memorize the lyrics!! And then along came this white girl and her quasi-punk band. I had heard a couple if her songs, so I knew their sound, but THIS was kinda unexpected! I was very young and was growing in up in such a multi-cultural era and area, that I didnt identify Rappers Delight as Black music....so that wasnt why this NEW song surprised me. It just seemed such a departure from what I had heard this girl and her band do BEFORE! But man, could I DIG IT! It was awesome and I looked forward to it coming on the radio every DAY! By now, my true Old School heads know that Im talking about a young lady who went by the name Debbie Harry and her band was Blondie. That funky song was..... youtu.be/z9kDW3y268Y
