A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about those asking for help and feeling uncomfortable... and said for there to be a giver, there also needs to be a receiver. Our roof, on the home we finally bought, after years of living literally in a garage in order to fund Veterans Alliance of Southern California, was so damaged in the winds and rain, that we, after much thought and prayer, started a GoFund Me to raise the $2500 we would need. The first $1000 was raised very quickly, and we were humbled by the friends we only know from facebook who came forward to help. We pulled permits, paid fees, and tarped the roof ...for now. Today, we were RAOKed twice.... first a relator sent her handyman to seal the roof around the vents, which still leaked and God held back the rain until we were safe! 10 minutes later, the rain started! (OK 3 RAOKs.... God holding the storm was an answered prayer... pretty cool when God RAOKs you!) and another friend offered to let us use their Home Depot card to buy what we need in materials, at no interest and payments we can afford.... and opps. RAOK # 4... a contractor we know had already offered all the labor from his team as a gift! We will have a NEW ROOF by Christmas. Just what I wanted!! Remember, No man is a failure who has friends.. and today we feel like the richest people in Hemet! It is, truly, a WONDERFUL LIFE!
