A couple of years ago, I was taught the lesson of my life, and I came to realize that all the People, not some, but all People of the world are the same. We the People no matter where we are, or what we have we all have The Right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. How did I come to this conclusion? During the Spring 2011, I was a junior student in Political Sciences and International Relations at Canisius College in Buffalo (NY). In my History class I had among many, the option to teach in a high school as a class requirement. I picked gladly that option and the Topic on the Life, Ideology and History of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,. I then prepared and conducted a special lecture using special tools for a group of nearly 70 students, some in 5th grade and others in 6th grade in a poor Black American Community at Hamlin Park High School in Buffalo ( NY). It was not until that day that I started to Love and Cherish more my own People. It was during the lecture, that I also came to realize that We the People no matter where we are, or what we have, We all have the same aspirations to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. On the one hand, my students where so excited to learn that one of their instructors is from Africa ( The Mother Land), and most of all a small and poor country called Burkina Faso. On the other, I was the most excited of all to have the honor and pleasure to discuss big issues like Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness with Yang Black and White Americans in the presence of Grown Up Black and White Americans! The level of excitement got to its peak when me and my colleague concluded the lecture. Here is a part of our conversation. [...]Mr. Stephen what does Burkina Faso mean? The Land of the Upright Men. Another one goes, does that mean that the People of Burkina Faso Stands Up Together? Well, to some extinct I would say. That was a good guess by the way, but literally speaking Burkina Faso means The Land of Integrity and Honesty; which means that the People of Burkina Faso are Patriotic, Hospitable, Hard-Working, Courageous, Honest and most of all, they are a Very Proud People. Just like the People of France, Canada, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Tunisia , Lybia or any other People of the world? Yes you go it, but to be more specific the word Burkina Faso is a coinage of two local languages ( Moore and Djula) of West Africa. The word itself was coined in 1984 by Comrade President Noel Isidore Thomas Sankara to express the Spontaneous and Conscious Revolution of a People, and his manifest desire to take in his hands his own destiny, and wage war against Colonization and Oppression, which still existed in Africa during the1980s. Against Oppression and Injustice, the People of Burkina Faso Stood and Said No. Another one goes Mr. Stephen, I am very proud of the People of Burkina Faso. Here comes another one, Mr. Stephen did you guys March, Boycott, Protest and Demonstrate Nonviolently and Peacefully just like our People? Where there Students, Women,Middle Class,Religious, Literary and Artistic Movements involved like in the Civil Rights Movement? Did you guys use the same means like us?[...]. This experience was a life-changing experience because it made me realize that a Nonviolent and Peaceful Resistance is the key to Real Peace and Freedom in Africa generally speaking and Burkina Faso in particular. Unfortunately, that is what We poor People of Africa lack in our Fight Against Oppression ! I thought to myself. I then made the resolution to help rise the conscience of my People on the importance of Nonviolence and Peaceful Resistance in his on going Fight against Oppression, Tyranny and Dictatorship. Dear Sisters and Brothers of Burkina Faso. It seems to me that History repeats itself today. Today We face the possibility of a Referendum in our beloved country. We all know that the aim of this Referendum is to keep the president and the status quo after 27 years. Today we face a very tough Regime full of bad and corrupted leaders, who want to remain in power by hook or by crook. However, We the People have the Power to decide who will rule over us and how. The fate of Our Nation is in our hands. Lets educate our people, friends and family on the importance of the Presidential elections of 2015. Lets educate them on the importance of getting registered and going to Vote in 2015. Change is already in progress! Lets make sure we are all part of a this Positive and Peaceful Change. Folks lets not get distracted be it, by anybody or anything. Lets stay focused on the target. Say No to the Status Quo. Lets stay United as One People and Vote for Change in 2015. Lets Keep fighting for Our Rights. Lets Keep Protesting and Demonstrating Peacefully. Remember: a Peaceful and Nonviolent Resistance is Key to Real Peace and Freedom. Dear Sisters and brothers, family and friends Lets walk hand in hand to Real Peace and Freedom. #FreedomFightersMood #SayNototheStatusQuo #NotoTheReferenduminBurkina #NotoDictatorship #HelpFreeTheLandofTheUpright #HelpFreethePeople #FreedomIsComingTomorrowFolks #KeepGoing #aPeacefulAndNonviolentAppraochtoFreedominBurkinaFaso #Peace
